Something for the weekend…..

This week has a been a work nightmare…..too much to do, big deadlines, nights away from home. I’ve decided this morning that I need to spend an hour thinking about something other than work and use case documents!!

I am a member of two online sewing bees at the moment…Sew Buzzy and Fresh & Funky Quilt Bee. I have my July fabrics sitting by the sewing machine and this weekend I’m going to get on and make my blocks.

Sew Buzzy

For the Sew Buzzy block I need to make a wonky house of my own design. Muriel has given us designated Sky and Grass fabrics but the rest of the design is up to us.

She has provided us with a gallery of wonky houses to show what she likes:

There are some great houses in the gallery for inspiration.

Fresh & Funky Quilt Bee

The theme for this month is ‘people and places’. Lynette is looking to make a quilt inspired by Material Obsession’s The ‘Burbs quilt from fabrics with a hot pink, lime and turquoise palette.

Like Muriel Lynette has provided us with a gallery of house blocks…some of them are even the same!

We also have a tutorial Lynette has put together for us to follow if we want to see how they can be made:

I thought it was quite funny that both Bee’s had a wonky house theme this month….particularly when I am working on The ‘Burbs quilt myself already.

So this weekend it will be a frenzy of house building……with a Patchwork Palace twist!
